Ode to Caffeine, by Heidi Barrett
March is National Caffeine Awareness Month. To celebrate the non-prescription drug that keeps many of our families going, our regular contributor Heidi Barrett penned the following poem. Pour yourself another mug, and enjoy!
Let us all get together in the Month of March and celebrate our love for caffeine
Some like hot
Some like it cold
Some like a syrupy frozen concoction in a cup
Back in the day Truckers and College Students alike pop No Doze to
Stay awake all night
The young and old nowadays sip Rock Star and Red Bull to their delight
Some people jitter and shake when they partake
Saint Drogo of Sebourg Patron Saint of Coffee and the Ugly,
and my patron saint
If I don’t get my coffee, I will turn ugly
I whisper terms of endearment to my steaming cup early in the morning
Coffee you are my best friend, I love you
Let us all get together in the Month of March and celebrate our love that for caffeine
What is your favorite caffeinated beverage, and how much do you need in a day?
