Join Accepting the Gift As We Grow!

On June 29, 2021 it was announced that Accepting the Gift was named one of 25 semi-finalists in the OSV Challenge; a contest designed to find and help grow new and innovative Catholic businesses and ministries.

Since then, as the founder of this online apostolate, I've been working behind the scenes on training provided by the OSV Institute in conjuction with the University of St. Thomas. Being named a semi-finalist also came with a financial prize, and now I'm excited to grow our team and create more resources for Catholic special needs parents.

If you're a writer, or an experienced social media manager, I encourage you to apply for one of our open positions. In the coming months, we'll be developing a free toolkit for parents to help them approach their pastors about beginning a support group or disability ministry at their parish. It will also provide tips on how to ask for accommodations in religious education. We will also begin working on materials to help those who want to run support groups at their parishes, as well as a workshop on adapted religious education for parents and catechists. And of course we hope to continue to offer informative blog posts on our website, and live content in our Facebook group.

We all know the importance of building more resources and support for Catholic special needs parents; too many of us are still isolated in dioceses with little to no help, and priests who still deny our children their sacraments.

Accepting the Gift is committed to helping Catholic special needs parents thrive in their unique vocation. Please let us know what other programs and materials you'd like to see us create for parents like you! And please pray for us as we continue to grow and bring our message to more and more people.
